Local Law Review 2026

Section 3.16 the Local Government Act 1995 mandates that all local governments must review their local laws within a 15-year period after their commencement to determine if they should remain unchanged, be repealed, or be amended.

The 15-year period is from either when the local law commenced or when the last review of the local law was completed.

As part of the Local Government reforms and implementation of the Local Government Amendment Act 2024, the Shire is now required to review all local laws, before 7 December 2026, unless a review occurred within the last eight years.

The following Laws are being reviewed and are open for public comment:

Local Law - Dogs (19/04/2016)

Local Law - Cemeteries (21/10/2010)
