About the Ballidu Heritage Centre
Almost as old as the town itself, Ballidu’s iconic hall stands as a testament to the rich community life, culture, and heritage that has shaped the town, contributing to its unique charm and historical significance.
Once the heart of social life, the hall hosted countless gatherings, including dances, film nights, weddings, birthdays, cabarets, and school concerts. It was also the venue for many football, hockey, and badminton functions, as well as community events like the Fire Brigade gatherings, Bike it to Ballidu, and Christmas Tree celebrations.
In 2019, the hall was transformed into the Ballidu Heritage Centre, managed by a dedicated sub-committee of the Ballidu Contemporary Art Society.
The centre’s exhibits offer a fascinating glimpse into the history of the area, showcasing the events and people that have shaped the town both past and present.
A visit to the Heritage Centre is a must for anyone in the area. Immerse yourself in the town’s country charm and hospitality while exploring the well-curated collection of heritage items and local history displays.
The BHC Cafe is open for a cuppa, a heritage-style cake or slice, toastie or sandwich. On Sundays, treat yourself to a Big Breakfast!
Our friendly volunteers are always on hand and happy to chat, making your visit even more enjoyable.
