Payment Assistance and Financial Hardship
Ratepayers experiencing financial hardship in paying rates and charges should contact the Shire's Rates Officer on 9671 2500 prior to the due date shown on the rate notice to discuss alternative payment arrangements.
Overdue Rates Accounts
If no arrangements have been made and rates and charges remain outstanding after the due date, legal action may be taken for their recovery. Costs associated with any legal action will be added to the rate account.
Penalty Interest (Section 6.51 Local Government Act 1995)
Eligible pensioners are exempt from the late payment interest. For all other ratepayers, interest will accrue daily, at the rate of 11% per annum from the due date.
ARREARS - interest will continue to accrue daily on any arrear balances, until these arrears have been paid in full.
NO INSTALMENT OPTION TAKEN - current charges shall begin to accrue daily interest on any rates and charges that remain unpaid after the due date, until these charges have been paid in full.
INSTALMENT OPTION TAKEN - interest shall begin to accrue daily on any instalment payment that remains unpaid after the due date of each of the instalments, until that instalment is paid in full.
