Disability Access Inclusion Plan

Under the Disability Services Act 1993 (WA), all local governments are required to develop and implement a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP). These plans outline how councils will ensure that people with disability can access and participate fully in community life.

Our DAIP is a key document that guides how the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu works to remove barriers and create an inclusive environment for everyone.

Our Commitment to an Accessible and Inclusive Community

The Shire of Wongan-Ballidu is committed to building a community where all people, regardless of ability, can access services, facilities, and opportunities equally.

This means ensuring that:

  • All Shire services, events, and programs are inclusive and accessible
  • Buildings, public spaces, and facilities are designed or improved with accessibility in mind
  • Information is available in formats that meet a range of needs
  • Community members can easily provide feedback, raise concerns, and be heard
  • People with disability are supported to participate fully in community life

Our approach includes both Shire delivered services and those provided by contractors on our behalf.

About the 2026–2031 DAIP

The 2026–2031 DAIP sets out practical actions the Shire will take over the next five years to improve access and inclusion across all areas of our operations.

The Plan focuses on ensuring people with disability, their families, and carers have the same opportunities, rights, and responsibilities as all other members of the community.

This updated DAIP has been informed by valuable input from local residents, community groups, and stakeholders. We thank everyone who contributed their feedback and helped shape this important document.
