Welcome David - Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator

We’re delighted to welcome David as our new Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator, a role he will be sharing across several shires, spending two days each week here in Wongan-Ballidu.

David’s passion for fire and emergency services began after returning home from the USA, where he spotted a volunteer sign on his drive back. That simple moment sparked a commitment that saw him dedicate seven years of service to the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS) in Roleystone.

As his involvement grew, David realised that the active lifestyle and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in communities was something he wanted to pursue professionally. To prepare, he qualified as a tree-climbing arborist and went on to work with the City of Gosnells, gaining practical skills highly relevant to bushfire risk mitigation.

When the opportunity for this coordinator role came up, David knew it was the type of position he’d been preparing for. He’s excited to bring his skills and passion into the role, connect with the community, and make a meaningful contribution.

Outside of work, David is a proud family man with a wife and two children. He enjoys sailing and cycling, and brings with him a strong passion for community safety and connection.

We’re very pleased to welcome David into the team. His background, dedication, and enthusiasm will be a real asset, and we look forward to the contribution he’ll make here in the Shire.
