Are you Bushfire Ready

Published on Wednesday, 15 December 2021 at 2:50:55 PM

If last week’s fires are anything to go by, we really do need to be aware of the potential fire dangers during the dry, hot summer months ahead of us.

It is also an opportunity for us to acknowledge the amazing group of volunteers who make up our Bush Fire Brigades and our Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services. Last week was a demonstration of the amazing responsiveness and capacity of all of our volunteers who coordinated extremely well together to manage the sudden and highly destructive crop fires in and around our Shire.

Speaking on behalf of the Shire, President Cr Mandy Stephenson thanked the fire brigade volunteers who worked tirelessly to get the fires under control. Also, the many farmers who supported these efforts by helping out on the affected farms - a huge thank you. “It is at times like these that I am so proud of our community” said Cr Stephenson. “We always show great support and care for each other when it is really needed and I can’t thank you enough for your sacrifice and your dedication to protecting our community and our assets” she added.

Residents are urged to make sure they are prepared ahead of the dangerous season ahead of us. There are several ways to ensure you have the correct information:
