Ballidu Contemporary Arts Society

The Ballidu Lodge Gallery building was originally built as a Masonic Hall in 1954. It was purchased by a local farmer in 1992, to be used as an art centre for Ballidu.

In Oct. 1992, the Ballidu Contemporary Art Society was formed with a committee of seven members. In Feb-Mar. 1993 the gallery’s first exhibition was held and since then 3-4 exhibitions were held each year. Many of these exhibitions came through Art On The Move and Country Arts. In 1995, the BCAS purchased the building.

During the 1990s the committee ran a very successful Artist in Residency programme and had an association with IASKA, a local organisation which managed international artists in residence to rural communities when it operated out of Kellerberrin. It still operates today.

The BCAS committee still organises yearly exhibitions and workshops.
