Community Update - Shire Volunteer Register

Published: Monday, 23 March 2020 at 11:23:48 AM

The Shire of Wongan-Ballidu understands our community’s uncertainty around the current COVID-19 pandemic. We would like to assure you that, as a local government, we are working:

  • to deliver the directives of state and federal governments to our community;
  • to support preparedness;
  • to implement response measures and recovery ; and
  • to share the official messages from state and federal government with our community.

As a local government, we recognise our role in response and recovery that supports all members of our community, including our most vulnerable.

To ensure we are proactive in preparing to provide our community with ongoing support, one step we are taking is to review our Shire Volunteer Register.

If you believe you may, in the coming months, have the capacity to volunteer to assist the community through activities coordinated by the Shire, we would love to hear from you. Shire Volunteers will be required to undertake a short screening questionnaire for insurance purposes, hold a current police clearance, and will be required to adhere to all health and hygiene guidelines as prescribed by the federal and state Departments of Health. In accordance with our duty of care and responsibility to our community, we especially encourage those that are considered minimal to low risk of contracting COVID-19 to consider registering on the volunteer database.

Please contact Alana Wigmore at the Shire Community Resource Centre on 9671 2551 or mcs@wongan.wa.gov.au for further information.
