Council is in the process of determining its Strategic Community Plan which outlines the long term (10+ year) values, vision, aspirations and priorities with reference to other local government plans, information and resourcing capabilities.    The plan is not static in nature and a full review is required to be undertaken every four years in addition to a desktop review every two years from inception.

The aim of the Strategic Community Plan is:

  • To establish our community's vision for the future of the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu as a local government, including their aspirations and service expectations.
  • To drive the development of local government plans, resourcing and other informing strategies for example workforce, asset management and services and
  • Is the ultimate source for all other planning undertaken by the Shire.

Our current Strategic Community Plan was last reviewed in 2017 and to ensure that the Shire continues to be a vibrant, welcoming , attractive place to work, live and visit - now and into the future, we welcome you to participate in identifying our long term goals and priorities.

Over the following months, we will be engaging the services of Aha Consulting, an organisation who specialises in working with local governments in engagement, facilitation and development of Strategic Community Plans.   Visit for a full overview of the organisation.  Through a series of workshops, conversations and forums involving our ratepayers, residents, businesses and community groups we aim to reveal the needs, expectations and aspirations that will set out our key strategies and the actions and resources required to achieve them.  During the engagement process, there will be many ways for you to learn more about our Strategic Community Plan, and to have your say and get involved.

By taking part in our online survey and participating in our workshops, you will be making a valuable contribution to PATHWAYS 2031 - our plan for creating our future together.

Additional information about the review process is available in PDF format here: LAUNCH INFORMATION PACK

Thank you to those who contributed their thoughts and ideas through our online survey.  The survey is now closed.

Our final group community "think tank" will be taking place on the 27th of March in Wongan Hills (details to follow shortly).  This will involve all interested community members in identifying the priorities that will drive our future plan.
